Music Therapist
VNA Health Group, a trusted not-for-profit provider of home health, visiting physicians, hospice, and community-based care, is seeking a compassionate, creative, and dedicated Music Therapist (MT-BC) to join our Hospice Team serving patients and families throughout the West Orange service area. In this rewarding role, you will use the therapeutic power of music to provide comfort, emotional support, symptom management, and meaningful connection for patients facing life-limiting illnesses.
About the Role
As a Music Therapist, you will provide individualized and group music therapy services to hospice patients and their families in homes, hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, and assisted living communities. Through assessment, treatment planning, and therapeutic interventions, you will help address the physical, emotional, cognitive, social, and spiritual needs of patients while promoting comfort, dignity, and quality of life.
Responsibilities
- Provide music therapy services to hospice patients and their families in a variety of care settings.
- Assess patient and family needs and develop individualized music therapy plans that support hospice goals of care.
- Utilize music-based interventions to reduce anxiety, manage symptoms, encourage self-expression, promote relaxation, facilitate reminiscence, and enhance emotional well-being.
- Collaborate with members of the interdisciplinary team to ensure coordinated, patient-centered care.
- Maintain timely, accurate, and compliant clinical documentation, records, and reports.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Music Therapy from an accredited program.
- Current Music Therapist-Board Certified (MT-BC) credential.
- Successful completion of the national examination offered by the Certification Board for Music Therapists.
- Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and the ability to travel throughout the service area.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently.

Pay
In compliance with New Jersey's Pay Transparency Act, the total compensation range for this position is USD $26.00 to USD $34.00. When determining an offer, VNA Health Group considers factors such as the scope and responsibilities of the role, the candidate's work experience, education/training, relevant skills, internal pay equity, and market and organizational conditions.
