Grainger Engineering: Teaching Professor (Open Rank) - Landuyt Center for Entrepreneurship, ILEE
About the role
The Landuyt Center for Entrepreneurship in The Grainger College of Engineering at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign invites applications for an open-rank, full-time teaching faculty position in the Innovation, Leadership, and Engineering Entrepreneurship Program.
Responsibilities
- Deliver high-impact engineering entrepreneurship education and experiential programming to students of all levels.
- Support rising engagement by teaching existing courses and developing new, high-impact educational opportunities that integrate theory and application.
- Contribute to instructional efforts through co-curricular programming, such as the Cozad New Venture Challenge.
- Mentor student teams to expand venture creation efforts.
- Broaden entrepreneurial mindset development across campus.
- Participate in research-oriented entrepreneurial education projects and disseminate findings to campus and external audiences.
- Develop next-generation entrepreneurial learning experiences and instructional approaches using expertise in generative AI.
- Engage with campus partners throughout the entrepreneurial ecosystem at Illinois.
- Interact with a large community of engineering education researchers through the Academy for Excellence in Engineering Education (AE3) and Center for Innovation in Teaching and Learning (CITL).
Requirements
A doctoral degree in engineering or related field is required at the start date, as well as demonstrated interest or experience in technology commercialization, deep-tech venture creation, customer discovery, innovation, and creativity.
Demonstrated ability to effectively teach and mentor/advise students from a wide range of disciplines at both the undergraduate and graduate level.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of effective, evidence-based pedagogical practices.
- Experience in developing curriculum.
Skills
Expertise in generative AI to develop next-generation entrepreneurial learning experiences and instructional approaches.
Benefits
The budgeted salary range for the position is $90,000 to $115,000 at the Teaching Assistant Professor level, for a 9-month service basis paid over 12 months. Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience, while also considering internal equity.
