Grain Supervisor

About the role

The Grain Supervisor (also referred to as the Grain Superintendent) coordinates the process of dumping, binning, and maintaining grain, and is responsible for documentation associated with the equipment used to house grain while in Agtegra's possession.

Responsibilities

• Ensures bin charts are current and accurate; provides periodic updates of bin levels and contents to the Location Manager.
• Monitors heat detectors for warm spots and corrects issues immediately.
• Monitors grain quality and ensures various quality grains are stored separately for optimum blending.
• Unloads trucks and monitors grain to ensure consistency throughout.
• Communicates with the Scale Operator to determine grain quality and blends grain to achieve the highest market price possible.
• Loads out railcars and trucks according to weights and grades expected by the destination.
• Ensures dust levels meet OSHA standards.
• Operates equipment efficiently, properly, and safely; assists in equipment maintenance and repairs and keeps all maintenance records up to date.
• Coaches and motivates team members through feedback, goal setting, and consistent application of policies and practices.
• Provides leadership in managing team performance, including setting measurable goals, tracking metrics, and holding employees accountable.
• Adheres to all safety regulations, requirements, policies, and procedures, including OSHA, vehicle policy, fleet safety program, and DOT regulations.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Associate degree (A.A.) and 6 months–1 year of related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must be eligible to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.
• Must be 18 years or older.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Knowledge of Environmental Health and Safety, OSHA, EPA, and related policies and procedures.
• Ability to maintain effective working relationships within and outside the organization.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and internet use.
• Ability to perform physical job duties, including bending, lifting up to 50 lbs, kneeling, climbing, crawling, and twisting, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Ability to work in varied indoor and outdoor conditions, including heat, cold, dust, loud noise, and other environmental factors, with the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including a respirator.
• Ability to work in elevated areas (4 feet and above) and confined spaces.
• Ability to work weekends, holidays, or different shifts as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

• Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).

Work Environment

• Regularly exposed to fumes, airborne particles, and outside weather conditions.
