Position Summary
New Graduate Nurses are supported throughout their transition from academia to practice with a 12-month Vizient/AACN Nurse Residency Program TM. There is automatic enrollment into the Nurse Residency Program for all Graduate Nurses with less than one year of experience. During the 12-month residency program, Nurse Residents will gather monthly for mandatory seminars to develop clinical and leadership skills. Nurse Residents will take part in a comprehensive orientation and will receive ongoing support and mentorship.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, evidence-based nursing care to patients in a long-term acute care or rehabilitation setting.
- Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and other care team members to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Monitor, assess, and document patient progress while ensuring safety and comfort.
- Educate patients and families on treatment plans, medication management, and discharge planning.
- Support a culture of excellence, teamwork, and continuous learning.
Qualifications
- Required: Successful completion of an accredited school of nursing program. Primary source verification required to establish 90-day time frame for temporary practice privileges post-graduation.
- Required: Temporary practice provisions for graduate nurses as outlined by the Connecticut State Department of Public Health and Board of Examiners for Nursing.
- PREFERRED: Valid/Current CPR Certification (required within 3 months of employment).
