About the Role
Performs direct patient care activities for all age groups to include assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Monitors and coordinates patient care activities with ancillary departments to optimize patient care and comfort. Functions within the scope of nursing preparation and consistent with established guidelines of nursing practice, Mercy Health System's goals, the Philosophy of the Sisters of Mercy, the respective state Nurse Practice Act, and professional standards.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care across all age groups, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
- Coordinate patient care activities with ancillary departments to enhance patient comfort and care.
- Adhere to nursing practice guidelines, Mercy Health System’s mission, and professional codes of conduct.
Requirements
- Graduated from a school of nursing (Associate's Degree, Diploma, or BSN).
- Current RN license in the hiring state or compact licensure; must meet all state board of nursing requirements.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association or completion within 30 days of hire.
- Unit-specific certifications as required.
Working Conditions
- Stand and walk for most of the shift.
- Frequent bending, stooping, lifting, and turning patients with assistance.
- High risk of exposure to blood and body fluids.
- May require varied schedules, shifts, or days based on patient care needs.
Physical Demands
- Regularly push, pull, and lift up to 50 pounds.
- Prolonged standing and walking each shift.
- Ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties.
- Minimal kneeling, crouching, and crawling.
- Pinch up to 15 pounds.

Schedule
