Graduate Nurse, Post Surgical Unit, (Full-Time)

General Summary

Graduate Nurse (GN) position requires strict adherence to state applicable rules and regulations. Practice only under appropriate direction and supervision of a State Registered Nurse. Act as patient advocate, providing continuity of care and collaborating with healthcare team.

Requirements

• Graduate Nurse (Temporary Permit) from the State
• Licensure as Registered Nurse in the current working state with 6 months of hire
• BLS required
• ACLS required within 6 months of date of hire

Essential Functions

• Assess needs of individual patients, including adults, pediatrics, adolescents, and geriatrics
• Formulate a goal-directed plan of care based on determined nursing diagnoses and patient outcomes
• Implement care in a knowledgeable, skilled, and consistent manner to achieve desired patient outcomes
• Establish priorities of patient care based on essential needs and available resources
• Perform efficiently in emergency situations, following protocols, and documenting events
• Demonstrate knowledge in medical/surgical care, pain assessment, pharmacological effects, laboratory values, safety, and emergency equipment
• Identify and resolve problems effectively using sound decision-making skills
• Document timely, accurate, and concise in floor and patient records
• Work as part of a team in delivering patient care
• Attend mandatory in-services and participate in staff meetings
• Adapt to new ideas and approaches
• Treat all patients equally according to the Patient Rights policy
• Review and carry out physician orders professionally
