Graduate Nurse - Northern Region
About the role
The Michigan Department of Corrections is seeking a Graduate Nurse to provide patient care within secure correctional facilities. This position reports to a licensed Registered Nurse and requires a nursing degree.
Responsibilities
- Perform a range of patient care assignments
- Work within the secure perimeter of MDOC facilities
- Obtain licensure within six months of hire and reclassify to Registered Nurse P11
Requirements
- Education: Possession of a diploma, associate's, bachelor's, or master's degree in nursing accepted for licensure by the Michigan Board of Nursing
- Experience: No specific type or amount is required
Qualifications
- Must be able to pass a background check
- Must be able to pass a drug screening
- Must be able to pass a physical examination
Skills
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Knowledge of correctional healthcare practices

Pay
- Competitive salaries
- Shift differential pay and/or prison pay of $0.40 to $0.50 per hour
- $5,000 signing payment after reclassification to licensed RN

- Location options include Baraga, Carson City, Freeland, Kincheloe, Manistee, Marquette, Munising, Muskegon, Newberry, St. Louis
