Graduate Medical Education (GME) Director of Wellbeing and Experience

Key Responsibilities

• Strategic Leadership in Wellbeing (30%)
  • Advocate and innovate around policies that foster a supportive learning environment
  • Utilize innovative technology and data-driven approaches to enhance wellbeing initiatives
  • Integrate flourishing and thriving frameworks into wellbeing initiatives
  • Partner with the School of Medicine Senior Associate Dean for Faculty and Chief Wellbeing Officer, the School of Medicine Associate Dean for Faculty Development, program directors, faculty, and institutional leaders to embed innovative wellbeing strategies into the fabric of GME training
• Coaching and Mentorship Initiatives (20%)
  • Implement coaching and mentoring models for residents and fellows to enhance professional growth, career development, and work-life integration
  • Develop a system for longitudinal coaching and mentoring engagement which fosters self-reflection, self-efficacy, and adaptive skills for success in medical training and beyond
  • Foster a culture of inclusion within GME programs, ensuring equitable access to resources around coaching, wellbeing, and mentorship
• Institutional and ACGME Compliance & Support (30%)
  • Serve as a wellbeing and resident experience expert in alignment with ACGME Common Program Requirements
  • Collaborate with institutional leaders to measure, assess, and improve wellbeing metrics across residency and fellowship programs
  • Serve as the GME representative to the Council of Residents and Fellows in Training (CRaFT)
  • Serve as the Chair of the GME Wellbeing Subcommittee
• Scholarship and Continuous Improvement (10%)
  • Lead or support research and scholarship in wellbeing, coaching, physician professional development, and thriving for resident and fellow physicians
  • Participate in national conversations on the future of wellbeing in medical education through presentations, publications, and collaborations with professional organizations
  • Inform measurement of resident and fellow well-being locally within GME and in concert with School and hospital partners
• Communication (10%)
  • Clearly and effectively communicate the results of both GME and School efforts at coaching and wellbeing to the GME leadership community
  • Clearly and effectively communicate the results of both GME and School efforts at coaching and wellbeing to existing interns, residents, and fellows
  • Assure that wellbeing and coaching efforts in GME are communicated to applicants as part of the recruiting process
  • Leverage University of Colorado, School of Medicine, and Department resources related to faculty wellbeing, professional advancement, and career development for GME needs

Qualifications

• Minimum Qualifications:
  • Currently hold or ability to obtain a faculty appointment at the rank of assistant professor at the University of Colorado
  • Terminal degree (MD, DO, PhD, EdD, or equivalent)
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in graduate medical education leadership (e.g., Program Director, Associate Program Director, GME Administrator, or Faculty Leader)
• Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with ACGME requirements and GME program administration
  • A record of scholarship and leadership in medical education, resilience science, or physician wellbeing
