Under the supervision of the Well-being Director, the Graduate Assistant (GA) for University Well-being assists in the management of wellness programs and campaigns in collaboration with campus and community partners.

Responsibilities

  • Planning and implementing physical activity and nutrition challenges
  • Coordinating well-being related programming, including:
    • Gannon Moves
    • Wellness Adventure Week Activities
    • Active work stations and ergonomics programming
    • Stress Less Week
    • Type 2 Could Be You
    • Summer CSA Programming
  • Supporting operations related to signature events on campus and in the community, such as:
    • Step it Up Erie County
    • West BayFit
    • Well360 Rewards
    • Second Harvest Proxy Program
    • Wellness Write-in
    • Hunger-Free Campus Programming
    • Tobacco-Free Campus Programming
  • Mentoring well-being student staff with assigned projects
  • Designing and distributing marketing materials to promote programming
  • Attending all wellness events prepared and ready to engage with participants
  • Supporting and promoting the University’s Mission and philosophy of well-being

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Applied Exercise Science, Public Health, Business, Recreation and Sports Management, or a health-related field
  • Minimum of one year experience in wellness, recreation, or fitness center programming, operations, and supervision (preferred)
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills
  • Ability to work with a diverse population, including students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community leaders
  • CPR and First Aid certifications
  • Ability to meet the physical demands associated with facility and programming

  • Critical Thinking: Proactively anticipate participant needs, make quick decisions, multitask, and evaluate program effectiveness to adapt as needed
  • Professionalism: Represent the university dependably, create polished and error-free marketing materials, and engage professionally with participants

Employment Status: Part-Time (10 months, 10 hours per week)
