Grading Operator

About the role

We are seeking an Experienced Road Grader Operator to join our Grading department at Walbec Group. Located in Southern Wisconsin, Walbec Group specializes in construction materials and professional design, engineering, and construction services. Our team works on various projects including bridges, shorelines stabilization, structure rehabilitation, and solar site engineering.

Responsibilities

• Use machinery to move construction materials, earth, and other heavy materials at construction sites
• Operate equipment to clear and grade land for road construction
• Work with multiple types of power construction equipment to minimize injury and property damage
• Read and understand grade stakes, machine control displays, etc.
• Make rough and finish grades as needed
• Safely maneuver machinery in tight spaces, around people, traffic, and utilities
• Clean, maintain, and secure all equipment
• Follow proper safety and incident reporting procedures
• Absorb and assist with repairs as needed

Requirements

• Valid Driver's License and satisfactory driving record
• 5+ years' experience as a Grader Operator
• CDL is desired but not necessary
• High School diploma or GED equivalent preferred
• Punctual and dependable
• Able to work varied hours including nights, early mornings, and weekends
• Tolerant of variable weather conditions and dirty/dusty environments
• Member of the appropriate trade union or willing to join
