About the role
Certified Guaranty Company (CGC), a division of Certified Collectibles Group (CCG), is seeking a knowledgeable and detail-oriented Grader to join their team. The ideal candidate will have experience in comic book grading or as a knowledgeable dealer/collector, with a strong understanding of grading concepts.
Responsibilities
- Authenticate and evaluate collectible comic books using CGC’s established grading standards.
- Assign accurate numerical grades based on condition, rarity, and quality indicators.
- Identify signs of restoration, alterations, or counterfeit attempts with precision.
- Handle and store comics with care to maintain integrity and prevent damage.
- Compare items against reference materials and escalate complex cases when necessary.
- Record grading notes and item details accurately in internal systems.
- Meet production and accuracy goals in a performance-driven environment.
- Stay informed on grading trends, collector demand, and emerging restoration techniques.
- Collaborate with peers and senior graders to ensure consistency and quality control.
- Occasionally travel domestically or internationally for business functions and events.
Requirements
- Previous experience in comic book grading or as a knowledgeable dealer/collector with a strong understanding of grading concepts.
- Broad knowledge of comic books, including artists, publishers, variants, pedigrees, and market values.
- Proven ability to work with precision and consistency in a production-based environment.
- Strong observational and critical thinking skills for detecting subtle defects or authenticity issues.
- Comfortable using computers and digital tracking systems.
- Self-motivated, dependable, and committed to maintaining high standards of integrity.
Qualifications
- A High School Diploma or GED is required.
- An associate or bachelor's degree in a field such as History, Art History, or a related field is preferred.
- The ability to visually inspect fine details, including color differentiation and depth perception, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- The ability to work on-site in Sarasota, FL, Monday through Friday.
