About the role

The Springfield Public Schools seeks a dedicated educator to join our team. This position involves meeting and instructing assigned classes, planning a curriculum that meets individual student needs, creating a supportive learning environment, and assessing student progress.

Responsibilities

  • Meets and instructs assigned classes in designated locations and times.
  • Plans a program of study that addresses the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students.
  • Creates a classroom environment that promotes learning and aligns with students' maturity and interests.
  • Employs various instructional techniques and media to meet the needs of students.
  • Assesses student achievements regularly and provides progress reports as required.
  • Maintains accurate records and follows the district's code of conduct.
  • Diagnoses learning challenges and collaborates with specialists when needed.
  • Takes necessary precautions to ensure the safety of students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Enforces classroom rules and maintains a positive learning atmosphere.
  • Supervises paraprofessionals and evaluates their work.
  • Participates in professional development and contributes to the evaluation process.
  • Attends school-sponsored activities and participates in district and building decisions.
  • Strives to maintain and improve professional competence.

Qualifications

  • Highly qualified with required competency in the content area.
  • Appropriate content/program area educator license (Elementary) and grade level (1-6) from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
  • Bachelor's Degree with appropriate license; or Master's Degree with appropriate content area license preferred and/or expected within 5 years.
