About the role
The Springfield Public Schools seeks a dedicated educator to join our team. This position involves meeting and instructing assigned classes, planning a curriculum that meets individual student needs, creating a supportive learning environment, and assessing student progress.
Responsibilities
- Meets and instructs assigned classes in designated locations and times.
- Plans a program of study that addresses the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students.
- Creates a classroom environment that promotes learning and aligns with students' maturity and interests.
- Employs a variety of instructional techniques and media to meet the needs of students.
- Assesses student accomplishments regularly and provides progress reports as required.
- Maintains accurate records and participates in professional development.
- Supports students' learning through diagnosis of learning challenges and collaboration with specialists.
- Maintains a safe and inclusive classroom environment.
- Contributes to the professional growth of paraprofessionals and evaluates their work.
- Attends school-sponsored activities and participates in district and building meetings.
- Strives to maintain and improve professional competence.
Qualifications
- Highly qualified with required competency in the content area.
- Appropriate content/program area educator license (Elementary) and grade level (1-6) licensure from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
- Bachelor’s Degree with appropriate license; or Master’s Degree with appropriate content area license preferred and/or expected within 5 years.
