About the role

The Springfield Public Schools seeks a dedicated educator to join our team. This position involves meeting and instructing assigned classes, planning a curriculum that meets individual student needs, creating a supportive learning environment, and assessing student progress.

Responsibilities

  • Meets and instructs assigned classes in designated locations and times.
  • Plans a program of study that addresses the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students.
  • Creates a classroom environment that promotes learning and aligns with students' maturity and interests.
  • Employs a variety of instructional techniques and media to meet the needs of students.
  • Assesses student accomplishments regularly and provides progress reports as required.
  • Maintains accurate records and participates in professional development.
  • Supports students' learning through diagnosis of learning challenges and collaboration with specialists.
  • Maintains a safe and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Contributes to the professional growth of paraprofessionals and evaluates their work.
  • Attends school-sponsored activities and participates in district and building meetings.
  • Strives to maintain and improve professional competence.

Qualifications

  • Highly qualified with required competency in the content area.
  • Appropriate content/program area educator license (Elementary) and grade level (1-6) licensure from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
  • Bachelor’s Degree with appropriate license; or Master’s Degree with appropriate content area license preferred and/or expected within 5 years.
