Elementary Classroom Teacher (grade 3)
About the role
The Springfield Public Schools seeks a dedicated educator to join our team. This position involves meeting and instructing assigned classes, planning a curriculum that meets individual student needs, creating a supportive learning environment, and assessing student progress.
Responsibilities
- Meets and instructs assigned classes in designated locations and times.
- Plans a program of study that addresses the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students.
- Guides the learning process towards achieving district curriculum goals.
- Prepares for classes assigned and shows evidence of preparation upon request.
- Employs various instructional techniques and media, consistent with physical constraints and student capabilities.
- Strives to implement the district's philosophy of education and performance expectations.
- Achieves student learning outcomes through regular assessment and provides progress reports.
- Maintains accurate records and diagnoses learning challenges, seeking specialized assistance as needed.
- Takes necessary precautions to ensure safety and follows the school's code of conduct.
- Supervises paraprofessionals and evaluates their work.
- Maintains a professional growth plan that aligns with district requirements and personal goals.
- Participates in the teacher evaluation process and contributes to mutual agreements.
- Attends school-sponsored activities and participates in district and building decisions.
- Contributes to the professional development of the district and building.
- Maintains a positive and professional work environment.
Requirements
- Highly qualified with required competency in the content area.
- Appropriate content/program area educator license (Elementary) and grade level (1-6) from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
- Bachelor's Degree with appropriate license; or Master's Degree with appropriate content area license preferred and/or expected within 5 years.
