About the role
As a Heavy Equipment and Material Handling Equipment (HE/MHE) Instructor, you will deliver both theoretical and practical training on the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of equipment.
Responsibilities
- Conduct classroom instruction covering HE/MHE operation principles, safety regulations, and maintenance procedures.
- Provide hands-on training, demonstrating safe and effective operation of HE/MHE, including pre-operation checks, digging, lifting, maneuvering, and safe shutdown.
- Instruct on operator-level maintenance tasks such as cleaning, lubricating, fluid checks, filter changes, and basic troubleshooting.
- Instruct on maintainer-level maintenance tasks, including electrical and hydraulic troubleshooting and use of diagnostic equipment.
- Administer written and practical assessments to evaluate student knowledge and proficiency in equipment operation and maintenance.
- Provide constructive feedback and guidance to help students improve their skills and understanding.
Requirements
- Understanding of HE/MHE components, systems, and operational controls.
- Proficiency in diagnosing and troubleshooting common electrical and hydraulic problems.
- Ability to obtain appropriate US Military Instructor certifications.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of practical experience instructing the operation and maintenance of Heavy Equipment (HE) and Material Handling Equipment (MHE) (preferred).
- Experience instructing Military personnel (preferred).
Skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office software.
- Technical competence is a plus.
- Customer service-oriented, flexible, and energetic.
- Excellent follow-through skills.
- Professional and comfortable in most social settings.
- Ability to travel internationally and domestically; must be able to obtain/maintain a valid passport.
Job Conditions
- Work in field, maintenance bay, office, and manufacturing floor environments.
- Subject to noise, temperature changes, and dusty environments.
Physical Requirements
- Stand for extended periods, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, bend, twist, and climb heavy equipment.
- Work in confined spaces.
- Lift, push, pull, and carry objects up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Perform duties in various weather conditions, including hot, cold, noisy, and dusty environments.
