About the role

The Administrative Manager serves as an instructor within the Civilian Development Unit, providing structured training and managing training materials. This role requires overseeing lesson plans, lectures, exercises, and related training documents, and may involve supervising staff.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver structured training sessions
  • Maintain and update lesson materials
  • Ensure all instruction reflects current Departmental procedures
  • Oversee preparation, review, and modification of lesson plans, lectures, exercises, and related training documents
  • Function as the liaison to commands on training matters
  • Create training materials using tools like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and TACTICS
  • Track attendance and generate reports
  • Perform administrative tasks as required

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree and four years of satisfactory, full-time progressively responsible clerical/administrative experience, with 18 months in an administrative, managerial, executive, or supervisory capacity
  • An associate degree and five years of satisfactory, full-time progressively responsible experience, with 18 months in an administrative, managerial, executive, or supervisory capacity
  • A four-year high school diploma and six years of satisfactory, full-time progressively responsible experience, with 18 months in an administrative, managerial, executive, or supervisory capacity
  • Education and/or experience equivalent to the above, with 18 months of administrative, managerial, executive, or supervisory experience

Qualifications

  • Experience working with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Excellent interpersonal and writing skills
  • Public speaking/training background
  • Experience working with City Time (Payroll) and/or Roll Call computer applications

Residency Requirement

New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County.
