Government Account Manager
About the role
This position requires the employee to conduct customer site visits the majority of the week with the rest of the week working out of the area office. Candidates must reside within 30 minutes of San Leandro, CA. The role uses sales skills and content knowledge to promote and assist with sales and service activities for Public Sector customers and prospects in a designated Area.
Responsibilities
- Manage existing contracts including relationship maintenance, contract terms, service offerings, price increases, and extensions.
- Maintain and enhance customer relationships and satisfaction through involvement in the community, including:
- Attending public functions, City Council / Board meetings, and other community events.
- Conducting community educational and informational outreach.
- Working with appropriate media outlets for communication purposes.
- Coordinate activities with other WM departments to deliver on contract and service expectations.
- Develop strategies to strengthen and deepen service offerings and wallet share of existing contracts.
- Utilize contract management and audit tools to maximize contract value and compliance.
- Use revenue acceleration tools for existing contract renewals and target pursuits, shaping RFPs and contracts to match customer needs and Waste Management offerings.
- Develop community partnerships with elected officials and key stakeholders to generate positive press coverage and benefit the community and WM.
- Provide support and insight on political strategies, activity, and needs within a community.
- Coordinate, oversee, and manage all bid responses, including pricing analysis, reporting, and other exhibits as required.
- Develop marketing strategies to identify retention and growth opportunities, including supporting strategies, resources, and timelines.
- Continue to build skills by participating in ongoing training offered by the Company.
Requirements
- Associate's Degree or equivalent experience in Business Administration, Communications, Political Science, or Economics, or five or more years of previous applicable experience in government relations, outside sales, public service, or a related field.
- 5 years or more of previous applicable experience.

- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in Business Administration, Communications, Political Science, or Economics, or a similar area of study, and five or more years of previous applicable experience.

Pay
The expected base pay range for this hybrid position is $109,000 - $125,000. The specific salary offered may be influenced by factors including the candidate’s relevant experience, education, training, certifications, qualifications, and work location. This position is also eligible for an annual bonus.
