About the role
The Government Sales Manager role is responsible for providing account relationship development at large, multi-site strategic accounts. These accounts typically represent 1-8 state, local, and/or education multi-site locations with MRO potential ranging from $15M to over $300M.
Responsibilities
- Initiate and develop new account relationships
- Develop and maintain existing account relationships
- Negotiate and implement agreements
- Develop and expand cooperative, agency, and segment executive relationships
- Provide functional direction to co-operative, agency, and segment teams
- Negotiate and maintain profitable agreements with Grainger and field-based sales resources
- Develop and implement government key initiatives and programs
- Conduct comprehensive market analysis and develop segment strategies
- Collaborate with DA/Small Business partners to leverage government set aside spend
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree required
- 5+ years of professional experience, including sales team leadership
- Deep understanding of the government marketplace, stakeholders, and government policies
- Experience in large complex contract negotiations and realization
- Ability to influence external and internal environments, including cultivating relationships with customers, resellers, and related markets
- Proven track record of delivering results aligned with business objectives
- Ability to develop forward-looking solutions and drive improvements aligned with long-term business goals
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Financial acumen and ability to manage budgets and understand financial models

Pay
The anticipated base pay compensation range for this position is $102,100.00 – $170,100.00. This role is eligible for an incentive target of up to $31,400.00, based on the achievement of individual and company performance objectives in accordance with the current terms of the incentive program which are subject to change.
Schedule
Estimated travel expected 20-25%.
