About the role

The Spring Training Complex Grounds Crew is responsible for maintaining the fields and surrounding areas at the Goodyear Ballpark and the Cincinnati Reds Player Development Complex. This position ensures the facilities are safe, playable, and aesthetically pleasing for professional baseball games, community events, and daily operations.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily field maintenance including mowing, edging, watering, and fertilizing natural turf areas.
• Prepare and maintain baseball infields, including dragging, raking, and repairing pitcher’s mounds and home plate areas.
• Operate and maintain grounds equipment such as mowers, tractors, aerators, and utility vehicles.
• Assist with the setup and breakdown of fields for games, practices, and special events.
• Perform general landscape maintenance including trimming, pruning, and planting.
• Monitor and maintain irrigation systems to ensure proper watering of turf and landscape areas.
• Assist with snow removal during winter months (if applicable).
• Perform minor repairs and maintenance on fences, benches, and other park amenities.
• Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
• Work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed for game and event schedules.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of one year of experience in grounds maintenance, landscaping, or a related field.
• Knowledge of turf management, irrigation systems, and landscape maintenance practices.
• Ability to operate grounds maintenance equipment safely and effectively.
• Physical ability to perform strenuous labor in various weather conditions, including extreme heat.
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Valid Arizona driver’s license and a good driving record.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in a sports field maintenance environment, particularly baseball.
• Certification in turf management or related field (e.g., Certified Sports Field Manager).
• Experience with irrigation system repair and maintenance.
• Familiarity with synthetic turf maintenance (if applicable).
