Part Time Sports Field Grounds Crew

Description

This is a part-time position and is scheduled to work less than 30 hours per week and less than 1000 hours per fiscal year.

Duties

• Weed eating and cutting grass in recreation areas and all ball-fields
• Irrigation and repair
• Cleans restrooms in complex and recreational buildings
• Repairs fences, gates, bleachers and general maintenance including assisting others as needed
• Clean parks and recreational areas and pick up trash
• Mark fields to specifications of the leagues and tournaments
• Drives a City vehicle from site to site in order to perform duties
• Performs other duties as assigned by Recreation Supervisor and Director of Parks & Recreation

Qualifications

• Must have enough education to read and write
• Must possess a valid Texas Driver License
• Basic knowledge of methods, practices and materials used in ball-field maintenance, general maintenance work
• Able to understand and follow verbal instructions
• Able to perform job satisfactorily without constant supervision
• Able to operate push and riding mowers, weed eaters, edgers, tillers and line marking machines
• Tractor experience helpful

Supplemental Information

• Ability to sit, stand and drive a vehicle to and from various worksites
• Employee will be exposed to seasonal temperatures while performing maintenance duties and be exposed to potentially hazardous mechanical and chemical hazards
• Ability to lift materials weighing up to 50 pounds frequently and 50 to 75 pounds occasionally
• Ability to bend, stoop, walk, push brooms, sweep, and dig
• Ability to walk over uneven, sloped & uneven terrain
• Work involves getting dirty and wet, cutting grass and tree limbs
• Employee will be exposed to dirt, dust, noises, fumes, and odors
• Ability to communicate in writing and verbally with the public
• Ability to understand verbal and written communication
