Description

Goodwill of Southwestern PA is seeking individuals who enjoy helping others to make an impact in the adult learning community. Volunteers will assist instructors in the Lawrenceville classroom, located at 118 52nd Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15201.

Responsibilities

• Assist instructors in the Lawrenceville classroom
• Fill out an application and schedule a meeting with Ashley Reilly, Education Volunteer Coordinator
• Discuss the specific role you would fill, as well as the onboarding process, including background checks and initial training
• Have a background in English as a Second Language teaching could help but is not required
• Having a background as a K-12 reading instructor could also help, though not required
• If you don't have any teaching experience, you can still reach out if you feel comfortable teaching other adults and would be comfortable working with adult English Language Learners

Requirements

• High school diploma or high school equivalency
• A desire to help adult students achieve their educational goals

Qualifications

• Postsecondary trainings and degrees are nice, but not required
