About the Role
The Good Shepherd Building Supervisor is responsible for the overall supervision of the YMCA building and grounds during assigned hours with an emphasis on housekeeping, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for all. This role upholds all YMCA safety and member service standards while focusing on positive relationships with members, staff, volunteers, and guests. As an ambassador for the YMCA, the Building Supervisor ensures high standards of customer service and cleanliness.
Responsibilities
- Walk the facility at the start of each shift to ensure the building, grounds, and equipment are clean, safe, and ready for members.
- Maintain a visible presence throughout the branch, greeting members, answering questions, and fostering a welcoming environment for all ages.
- Respond quickly and confidently to member needs, facility concerns, emergencies, and security situations while following YMCA policies and procedures.
- Complete cleaning tasks, restock supplies, set up spaces for events, and report or address maintenance needs.
- Support exceptional member experiences by collaborating with Relationship Managers and other departments to ensure outstanding service.
- Monitor activity throughout the building to promote safety, identify potential concerns, and proactively resolve issues.
- Identify opportunities to enhance safety, cleanliness, risk management, and the overall member experience.
- Participate in trainings, staff meetings, and collaborate with coworkers to support daily operations.
Schedule
- Part-time, non-exempt position (up to 25 hours per week).
- Required availability: Tuesdays and Thursdays (4:00 pm – 8:00 pm) and Saturdays (12:00 pm – 6:00 pm).
Pay
$15.75 per hour.
Qualifications
- Six months to one year of related experience and/or training desired.
- Minimum age of 21 years old.
- Excellent interpersonal skills; proven ability to work with children and adults of all ages.
- Previous customer service, sales, or related experience strongly preferred.
- High degree of self-confidence, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills.
- Knowledge of and experience with diverse populations preferred.
- Proven track record of developing authentic relationships.
- Current Praesidium Academy training.
- CPR, AED, and First Aid certifications required within 90 days of employment.
