About the Role

The Building Operations Supervisor is a part-time staff position (28 hours/week). This person is responsible for cleaning assigned buildings and supporting the setup and takedown of building-related events. They inspect the work levels and effectiveness of student employees daily, mentor them, and teach positive work ethics by working alongside them. They follow all training, safety, and university policies and procedures, maintain quality customer relations, and serve as a positive example of university citizenship. This role follows the direction of the Area Operations Manager and Building Operations Managers and supports department-wide activities, policies, and programs.

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 5:00 AM - 10:00 AM, with Saturdays as needed.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the cleanliness of assigned work area through organizing and supervising part-time employees using approved cleaning methods and techniques.
• Mentor, teach, train, and motivate part-time and student employees while instilling in them a service attitude through being an example of positive work ethic.
• Personally work with student crews during their shift to assist with problems, answer questions, direct cleaning, and teach positive work ethics by working alongside them.
• Maintain and update records as assigned.
• Communicate and provide public relations for the buildings they service.
• Inspect buildings daily to check the effectiveness of cleaning crews and determine future needs.
• Contact building patrons as needed to determine customer satisfaction and assist with any concerns or problems.
• Maintain complete and accurate records as assigned.
• Improve job and leadership skills through personal development training and involvement with departmental activities.
• Follow department and university policies and procedures, support the manager’s directions, attend department functions and safety meetings, and serve as an excellent example of department, university, and church citizenship.

Requirements

• A firm commitment to the mission of BYU.
• High school diploma or GED equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications

• 1 year of building care and/or supervisory experience.

Pay

Pay Grade: 46. Typical starting pay: $16.50 to $21.25 an hour.
