About the Role

The Golf House Retail Manager at The Madison Club is responsible for providing an exceptional retail experience that aligns with the club's standards of excellence. This role involves full ownership of the buying process, from strategic planning and vendor development to executing seasonal buys. The Retail Manager leads a high-performing retail team, drives sales through visual merchandising, and ensures proactive inventory oversight while understanding and anticipating member preferences.

The position includes sourcing and purchasing high-end merchandise across various categories such as golf, athleisure, logo apparel, accessories, gifts, and home goods for men, women, and children. The Retail Manager also serves as a liaison between the Regional Director of Retail and the on-site team, building member relationships and monitoring sell-through data to inform buying decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Purchasing:
    • Utilize the open-to-buy system, Management One, to manage inventory and purchasing.
    • Execute and oversee purchases, including vendor communications, new account setup, logo instructions, purchase orders, and order tracking.
    • Complete purchase orders and update all business model components accurately and in a timely manner.
    • Collaborate with the Regional Director of Retail on custom product development and ensure adherence to branding guidelines for retail and marketing swag.
    • Work with the Retail Administrator to monitor and manage the receipt flow of purchases through updates to Buying Plans, On-Order tracking, Purchase Orders, and Management One.
    • Assist with sourcing and purchasing staff uniforms, event swag, tournament tee gifts, and other miscellaneous projects.
    • Work with accounting to develop and maintain SOPs for processing invoices, inventory control, and AP reconciliation.
    • Attend trade shows including the Indian Wells Golf Show (2x annually), PGA Show (1x annually), and 1-2 additional relevant shows.
    • Update and maintain all vendor contact information.
  • Inventory Control:
    • Conduct monthly physical inventories for retail and swag.
    • Maintain shrink parameters for retail inventory.
    • Monitor sell-through of best sellers and core items, filling in as needed to maintain proper inventory levels.
    • Work with the Retail Administrator to receive retail merchandise into the POS Inventory system, adhering to company standards for category and SKU assignment, pricing, and descriptions.
    • Enforce DLC companywide policies for employee purchases.
    • Work with the accounting department to reconcile all receipts and outstanding issues.
  • Selling/Merchandising:
    • Ensure the store is always pristinely merchandised with frequent floor rotations and timely placement of new products according to Buying Plan timelines and special events.
    • Monitor and drive sales to meet monthly revenue budgets through member relationships and knowledge of brands and fashion trends.
    • Incorporate trunk shows, shopping events, and other promotions to expand the retail offering and increase revenue.
    • Assist and service members and their guests with all retail purchases, returns, and special orders, ensuring proper procedures for transactions, markdowns, and employee discounts.
    • Uphold company packaging standards and implement special touches like gift wrapping and thank-you notes.
    • Maintain a member database with retail-specific information such as brand preferences and sizes.
  • Training/Staff Development:
    • Collaborate with the Regional Director of Retail to develop and implement retail SOPs unique to the club operation using DLC standards as a baseline.
    • Recruit and train retail staff.
    • Oversee scheduling of retail staff.
    • Provide continuous product knowledge training.
    • Develop and implement staff incentives for quality work and meeting sales parameters.
    • Identify growth opportunities within the retail team and partner with the Regional Director of Retail to develop targeted training tools.
  • Other:
    • Assist with any other duties as assigned by the Regional Director of Retail and General Manager.
    • Assist golf staff with tournament gifting preparation.

Pay

The company’s good faith estimate of the salary range for this role is $80,000 to $100,000 annually, based on applicable and specialized experience and location.
