About the role

Yellowstone Club’s Golf Course Maintenance department is seeking a Golf Course Maintenance Intern for the 2027 Summer season (May 3 – October 8, 2027). This seasonal internship exposes a motivated individual to all facets of golf course management in the Rocky Mountains, including maintaining cool-season turf at nearly 8,000 feet elevation in a short growing season.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in routine agronomic practices for putting greens, tees, fairways, roughs, bunkers, ponds, streams, and related structures.
  • Operate and demonstrate proper use of a variety of equipment.
  • Monitor soil conditions using POGO sensors and perform hand-watering as needed.
  • Calibrate sprayers and spreaders; apply fertilizers and pesticides.
  • Maintain application records and track chemical inventories.
  • Perform daily course set-up and tournament preparations.
  • Monitor turfgrass systems during the growing season to ensure proper water, nutrient, and disease prevention levels.
  • Lead small crews and coordinate projects on assigned golf holes.
  • Supervise seasonal maintenance staff, ensuring safe use of equipment and facilities.
  • Work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, weekends, holidays, and diverse tournament schedules.

Requirements

  • Participant or recent graduate of an accredited turf program.
  • Two seasons of golf course work experience preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Basic understanding of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to speak clearly and effectively with Members, guests, and staff; Spanish speaking is helpful but not required.
  • Basic math skills for calculations and record-keeping.
  • Problem-solving ability and willingness to seek assistance when needed.

Work Environment

  • Primarily outdoors in varying weather conditions, including rain, snow, cold, and heat.
  • Constant standing, walking, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, bending, crouching, or reaching.
  • Visual acuity required for reading plans, inspecting hazards, operating machinery, and driving Club vehicles.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
