Golf Assistant Superintendent

Responsibilities

• Actively build and retain customer relations and mentor team members to provide superior customer service.
• Train, evaluate, discipline, and supervise staff to ensure adequate resources and guidance for achieving established objectives.
• Maintain team member safety and personnel discipline.
• Organize and manage the daily duties of the Golf Contract team.
• Supervise and/or apply all fertilizer and chemical applications.
• Calibrate all fertilizer and pesticide application equipment and maintain application records.
• Operate and maintain the irrigation system, pump station, and controls.
• Install and maintain various irrigation and drainage systems.
• Plan and supervise maintenance of greens, tees, and fairways, including planting, cultivating, pruning, and care of plants, shrubs, and trees.
• Instruct equipment operators on the operation and care of mowing and other equipment.
• Maintain and repair surrounding walkways, benches, drinking fountains, and adjacent appurtenances.
• Keep time for department team members and contract labor.
• Order and receive goods in accordance with policies and procedures.

Working Conditions

• Operates in an environment with hazards associated with pesticides, landscape care products, hand and power tools, and gardening/mowing equipment.
• Generally works outside and is subject to all weather conditions; proper clothing is provided.

Requirements

• Associate's Degree (A.A.), certificate from a 2-year college or technical school, or equivalent experience and/or training.
• Minimum of 2 years of prior golf course experience along with leadership skills; management of crews and projects preferred.
• Possession of a valid driver's license.
• Must have or be able to obtain a Louisiana Commercial Pesticide Applicator License in Turf/Ornamentals within 90 days of employment.
• Effective communication skills with team members, guests, and outside contractors.
• Ability to prepare and maintain clear and concise reports and records preferred.
• Requires physical strength, stamina, and agility.
