JOB SUMMARY
This position is for the 2026 - 2027 Academic Year beginning in October 2026 and ending in June 2027. GO Tutor Corps in partnership with AmeriCorps.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Deliver Small-Group Academic Instruction
- Provide 90 minutes of small group tutoring weekly. Tutors may use intervention curricula or be given literacy and math instructional materials.
- Implement pre-developed lesson plans and instructional materials with fidelity
- Prepare in advance for each session to ensure effective and engaging instruction
- Adjust pacing, strategies, and supports to meet varying student learning needs and skill levels
- Support Student Academic Progress
- Assess student understanding during sessions and provide targeted support to address learning gaps
- Track student attendance, participation, and academic progress using program-designated tools
- Share progress updates and observations with site staff, teachers, or program coordinators
- Incorporate feedback from coaches, teachers, or site leads to strengthen instructional delivery
- Build Positive Student Relationships
- Establish a safe, inclusive, and structured learning environment that promotes student engagement
- Develop consistent, supportive relationships with students to encourage confidence and motivation
- Serve as a mentor and positive role model by demonstrating professionalism, reliability, and respect
- Maintain Program Expectations and Communication
- Attend and facilitate all assigned tutoring sessions in alignment with the program schedule, ensuring consistent, reliable service delivery
- Provide consistent support to an assigned caseload of students, working with the same small groups whenever possible while recognizing that group assignments may shift based on student need
- Track and document student attendance and tutoring dosage to ensure students receive a minimum of 90 minutes of tutoring per week
- Proactively monitor student participation and attendance patterns, flagging concerns such as inconsistent attendance or low tutoring dosage
- Communicate in a timely and proactive manner with program staff regarding absences, scheduling conflicts, student engagement concerns, or any barriers impacting student learning or service delivery
- Arrive on time and fully prepared for all tutoring sessions and required program activities
- Participate in all required trainings, coaching sessions, and program meetings
- Contribute to Enrichment and School Community
- Support or co-facilitate enrichment activities such as after-school clubs, academic interventions, or school events when available
- Collaborate with school staff to support overall student development and program goals
- Minimum of an Associate’s degree or current enrollment in an accredited college or university program
- Citizenship or legal Permanent Residency status in the United States (AmeriCorps requirement)
- Served no more than three previous AmeriCorps service terms (AmeriCorps requirement)
