About the role
The GN&C Lead Engineer will be responsible for leading Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GN&C) design, development, integration, and verification activities in support of the IM-4 mission. This role serves as the technical authority for GN&C, ensuring robust system performance from early design through flight operations.
Responsibilities
- Lead GN&C system architecture, requirements definition, and design for the IM-4 mission.
- Develop and oversee guidance, navigation, and control algorithms for spacecraft and lunar mission operations.
- Own GN&C subsystem performance, margins, and verification closure across all mission phases.
- Coordinate GN&C interfaces with avionics, propulsion, structures, software, and systems engineering teams.
- Support sensor selection, actuator sizing, and control law tuning to meet mission objectives.
- Guide GN&C analysis, simulation, and Monte Carlo performance assessments.
- Support hardware-in-the-loop (HIL), software-in-the-loop (SIL), and integrated system testing activities.
- Generate GN&C technical documentation, including design descriptions, analysis reports, and verification plans.
- Mentor and provide technical leadership to GN&C engineers supporting the mission.
Requirements
- Bachelor's, Master’s, or Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Significant experience in spacecraft GN&C design, analysis, and implementation.
- Experience leading GN&C development efforts for complex aerospace systems or flight missions.
- Strong background in guidance algorithms, navigation filtering, and control system design.
- Experience with GN&C simulation tools, modeling environments, and scripting languages (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink).
- Familiarity with spacecraft sensors, actuators, and avionics interfaces.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to lead technical discussions and reviews.
- Prominent ability to work across multidisciplinary teams in a fast-paced development environment.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Flexible and adaptable to evolving mission requirements and schedules.
