About the role
The GM of Service - PSD is responsible for quality execution of WCAT Power Systems products and services at the Business Unit level.
Responsibilities
- Communicate, comply with, and promote WCAT EHS policies.
- Oversee daily service operations of the Power Systems Service Division.
- Accountable for field and shop operations in financial revenue performance, expense management, and customer satisfaction.
- Ensure quality delivery of WCAT PSD products and services and continuous development of all employees to achieve operational excellence.
- Recruit, hire, develop, evaluate, and terminate WCAT PSD service personnel.
- Initiate and document disciplinary action and resolve employee conflicts.
- Identify and develop potential successors for all service supervisory roles.
- Develop WCAT PSD policies and lead training on new initiatives and processes.
- Communicate with Account Managers regarding WCAT sales and opportunities.
- Determine staffing needs by analyzing units, growth potential, and profitability.
- Develop the PSD Service Budget and manage overhead expenditures (vehicles, communications, tooling, etc.).
- Ensure environmental compliance (emissions, housekeeping, and spills).
- Lead PBO meetings and utilize PBO communication techniques.
- Manage multiple subordinate supervisors and oversee overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units.
- Maintain proactive customer relationships through completion of annual PAR schedule.
- Present routine reports to Senior and Executive Management, both electronic and in person.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university; and/or five years of related experience and/or training.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports and business correspondence.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and the public.
- Ability to solve practical problems with limited standardization.
- Ability to interpret instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with Caterpillar DBS system a plus.
- Valid Driver's License and clean driving record.
Work Environment
- Regularly required to sit and talk or hear.
- Frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.
- Occasionally required to stand, walk, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Must frequently lift and/or move heavy objects.
- Specific vision abilities include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, high places, fumes, airborne particles, and outside weather conditions.
- Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
- Required travel up to 35%.
- This position is considered safety-sensitive.
