About the role
The Server position is dedicated to exceeding expectations of both internal and external guests to ensure the highest level of service is consistently provided. Teamwork is key to success in providing a warm and personal experience. The Server will ensure the proper setup of the station and work areas, smooth serving of food and beverages, and preparation for the next meal period. Servers also support colleagues in the pool, a team of professionals with a passion for food and beverage.
Responsibilities
- Greet guests with eye contact, a smile, and correct posture; maintain a friendly, professional demeanor with clear, upbeat communication.
- Inform guests about daily specials and menu changes; suggest food and beverages to upsell.
- Take accurate food and drink orders with a positive attitude; enter orders into the POS system, noting special requirements.
- Ensure extraordinary table maintenance, coordinating with support staff and other servers to replenish utensils, refill beverages, and run food as needed.
- Promptly respond to guest requests and adhere to all grooming, appearance, and service standards.
- Print closing reports, drop cash (if needed), and handle room charges and credit card receipts.
- Operate as a team member, assisting others and requesting help as needed; perform other pool duties as requested by management.
- Stock and maintain side stations with glassware, share plates, condiments, and other mise en place.
- Maintain accurate guest checks, ensuring all items are charged; drop complete and accurate checks when guests are ready and secure payment.
- Perform assigned side work before, during, and after shifts.
- Communicate guest needs to the kitchen and management; inform management of guest reactions and comments.
- Serve alcohol responsibly, carding guests who appear under 30 and ensuring alcoholic beverages are served only to guests over 21.
- Help promote a safe and clean environment for co-workers and guests.
Requirements
- Previous serving experience preferred; hospitality or resort experience is a plus.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and lift up to 30 pounds.
- Strong multitasking and time management skills.
- Must be able to work weekends, holidays, and flexible shifts.
- Food Handler Certification and Alcohol Server Certification required.
