Global Sourcing Specialist [SK-12865]
About the Opportunity
Our client is a national specialty retailer with a large private brand portfolio, a network of stores across North America, and multiple distribution centers. Their private brand and global sourcing team is looking for a Global Sourcing Specialist to support sourcing strategy, supplier development, and cost optimization across assigned product categories. This role is ideal for someone with a sourcing or merchandising background who is analytical, organized, and comfortable owning vendor relationships and product development timelines.
Responsibilities
- Support the development, implementation, and management of the global sourcing strategy for assigned categories
- Act as project manager for new product development within your categories
- Identify, assess, and recommend new suppliers on an ongoing basis
- Analyze bids, cost data, and supplier capabilities and turn them into actionable recommendations
- Participate in and conduct supplier negotiations
- Partner with the private brand cross-functional team to improve sourcing effectiveness
- Research and analyze manufacturer cost, capacity, and delivery history; confirm suppliers can meet product specifications, quality standards, and brand requirements
- Identify cost optimization and margin enhancement opportunities across the supply chain
- Manage ongoing vendor performance across service, quality, and cost
- Monitor cost and availability trends for key inputs (raw and packaging materials, labor, freight, crude oil) and recommend a course of action
- Surface issues to the right parties and drive them to resolution
- Prioritize and complete multiple projects within set timeframes
- Travel as needed to work with vendors and manufacturers and to attend industry trade shows
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- 2-3 years of global sourcing experience preferred; merchandising, buying, or product development experience considered
- Exposure to manufacturing processes, quality control, and national or specialty chain retail
- Working knowledge of import/export relationships, quality control and testing processes, and logistics
- Strong data analysis skills and advanced Excel (pivot tables, lookups, cost modeling)
- Excellent written and verbal communication; comfortable presenting recommendations to leaders across functions
- Highly organized with the ability to shift focus across competing priorities
- Negotiation skills and the ability to build partnerships based on trust, fairness, and integrity
- Advanced computer skills including MS Office Suite and the ability to learn internal systems quickly
Pay
The target hiring compensation range for this role is $40 to $44 per hour. Compensation is based on several factors including, but not limited to, education, relevant work experience, relevant certifications, and location.
