Global Product Leader

This role is located at our dynamic R&D site in Gaithersburg, MD, or Boston (Seaport Boulevard), MA.

About the role

You’ll take on a senior leadership role including both people and project management. Your high-level accountabilities are critical to the delivery of AZ business objectives and portfolio value targets. This includes leadership of a cross-functional Global Product Team (GPT) to design and deliver a successful strategy aligned to achieving the global brand strategy through the brand’s life cycle.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive the strategic and scientific value creation of the brand, including the development path, governance approval, growth, and maturity of the brand (Life Cycle Management) while integrating diverse internal and external perspectives.
• Serve as the lead ambassador for the product, both internally and externally, engaging and consulting with Key External Experts (KEEs) to establish and nurture effective partnerships and networks to shape the brand vision.
• Ensure the disease strategy is innovative, with a balanced focus on safety and efficacy for regulatory approval plus value for market access.
• Deliver governance-approved business cases within tolerance on time, cost, and quality, working with functional management to resolve issues.
• Deliver the Indication Target Product Profile (TPP) and Target Product Claims (TPC).
• Role model engagement with internal stakeholders and KEEs in strategy development and science cascade.
• Ensure effective and transparent risk, opportunity, and issue management at strategic, tactical, and operational levels.
• Simplify complexity, anticipate obstacles, and integrate robust scientific, competitive intelligence, KOL, and payer insights to navigate challenges.
• Seek partners and collaborators who share our passion for science.
• Ensure appropriate Governance and Compliance and protect AZ’s Rights, Data, and Intellectual Property.
• Manage performance within the cross-functional team.
• Build and lead high-performing cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree (required).
• Minimum of 5 years of experience within the biotech/pharmaceutical industry, including work with executive leadership.
• Significant expertise in drug development processes, specifically the design of development strategies that incorporate regulatory, commercial, and external insights.
• Strong business acumen, with credibility among key opinion leaders, payers, and scientific communities, and relevant therapy area expertise.
• Excellent communication and influencing skills at high levels with both internal and external stakeholders, simplifying complexity to drive performance and decisions.
• Demonstrated experience in leading and motivating teams within a highly matrixed environment, ensuring high team effectiveness through collaboration, influence, and coaching.

Desired Qualifications

• PhD and/or MD degree (preferred).

Pay

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $216,000 to $324,000. Base pay may vary depending on market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The role also offers a short-term incentive bonus opportunity and eligibility to participate in our equity-based long-term incentive program.

Schedule

In-person working gives us the platform we need to connect, work at pace, and challenge perceptions. We work, on average, a minimum of three days per week from the office while balancing the expectation of being in the office with respect for individual flexibility.
