About the role

The Global Manufacturing Training and Development Manager is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing learning and development initiatives tailored to the manufacturing environment. This role ensures that the manufacturing workforce continuously improves their skills and contributes to organizational growth. The position partners with global, regional, and local teams to support the implementation of the learning management system (DRIVE FRS Learning) and other Voith-sponsored or external methods at all FRS sites. This role will engage with local education systems to establish relationships supporting youth apprenticeships and apprenticeships, ensuring a steady pipeline of recruits. The position works closely with trainers and subject matter experts to support content creation and improve the LMS as needed, serving as the lead global admin for the LMS system.

This is a hybrid work opportunity with proximity to Appleton, Neenah, Austell, Shreveport, Florence, and West Monroe.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate a safety-first mindset with a personal commitment to health and safety.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive learning and development strategy for manufacturing employees that supports global organizational goals.
  • Collaborate with operations sites and subject matter experts to identify training needs and objectives, building and implementing training programs.
  • Audit and evaluate the effectiveness of learning initiatives through assessments, feedback, and key performance indicators.
  • Implement and maintain the learning management system to track progress and training records.
  • Maintain document control records with supporting documentation in compliance with regulatory requirements and the Voith Group Learning Management System.
  • Provide coaching and consulting support to business leaders to identify and resolve gaps.
  • Identify industry trends and best practices by researching top-tier approaches.
  • Engage and cultivate relationships with educational institutions near operating units to establish apprenticeships.
  • Continuously scan local, provincial, state, and federal opportunities for education and training grants, deploying strategies to secure and execute them at operating units.
  • Support change management by fostering an innovation mindset and implementing new processes and learning technologies to drive training into manufacturing sites.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or equivalent experience (e.g., Industrial Engineering, Education, or a relevant discipline).
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing environment, with a focus on continuous improvement and training.
  • Knowledge of learning management systems is preferred.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in training program design and delivery.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Experience in education fields, particularly skilled trades or technical colleges, including securing grants.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing, is required. Bilingual or multilingual skills are a plus.

Physical Demands

  • Travel up to 30% of the time regionally and globally.
  • Hybrid work arrangements are possible, but the successful candidate must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of one of Voith FRS’s U.S. operating units: Appleton, WI; Austell, GA; Florence, MS; Neenah, WI; Shreveport, LA; or West Monroe, LA. Periodic on-site presence is required.
