About the role
As a CBRE Health, Safety and Environment Director, you will oversee the department responsible for creating and implementing health, safety, and environmental programs for clients. This role is part of the Environment Health and Safety function, focusing on organizational programs and procedures to safeguard employees and surrounding communities.
Responsibilities
- Provide formal supervision to employees, including monitoring training and development, conducting performance evaluations, and coaching.
- Oversee recruiting, hiring, and daily team management, including establishing work schedules, assigning tasks, and cross-training staff.
- Set and track staff and department deadlines, and mentor/coach as needed.
- Approve all playbook and procedure changes to ensure Health, Safety, and Environmental initiatives drive program consistency and efficiency.
- Review operational and safety risks and execute strategic risk management strategies to avoid potential incidents.
- Serve as the point of contact for government agencies, professional health/safety/environmental organizations, community advisory boards, and internal safety efforts.
- Provide senior management with updates on health, safety, and environmental issues, compliance, trends, performance, and concerns.
- Ensure all regulatory compliance needs are met across all accounts.
- Apply in-depth knowledge of multiple disciplines, business operations, and key drivers impacting departmental and cross-functional performance.
- Lead by example, modeling behaviors consistent with CBRE’s RISE values.
- Persuade managers and colleagues to act in alignment with the organization’s functional business plans.
- Negotiate with external partners, vendors, and customers to reach common goals.
- Identify and solve multi-dimensional, complex operational and organizational problems using appropriate resources.
- Significantly improve and change existing methods, processes, and standards within the job discipline.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred with 8-12 years of relevant experience. In lieu of a degree, a combination of experience and education will be considered.
- Experience with creating vendor contracts is desired.
- Bilingual (Spanish) is preferred.
- Experience in staffing, selection, training, development, coaching, mentoring, performance measurement, appraisal, and retention is preferred.
- Ability to lead the exchange of sensitive, complicated, and difficult information, convey performance expectations, and handle problems.
- Leadership skills to set, manage, and achieve targets with a direct impact on multiple departments’ results.
- In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
- Expert organizational skills and an advanced inquisitive mindset.
- Must be currently authorized to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship now or in the future.
Pay
The minimum salary for the Global HSE Director role is $100,000 annually, and the maximum salary is $150,000 annually. Compensation will depend on skills, qualifications, and experience. Successful candidates will also be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on CBRE’s applicable benefit program.
