About the role

Part of AXIS Global Claims Shared Services, the Global Head of Claims Management Information & Insights is accountable for the design, delivery, and governance of claims management information and insights to drive optimal claims performance. This role provides actionable insights that support loss cost improvement, severity reduction, and management, and develops key performance reporting for Global Claims Shared Services, North America Claims, Global Markets Claims, and Reinsurance Claims.

The role is the single, authoritative source of Claims MI & Insights, owning the global claims performance narrative, insights, and commentary. It develops and delivers consistent, accurate, and decision-ready reporting for senior claims leadership and key stakeholders (including Data & Analytics, Actuarial, and Underwriting). The position has end-to-end accountability for global claims MI & Insights strategy, execution, and evolution, overseeing regional performance reporting leads, setting standards, and ensuring claims data is transformed into clear, actionable insights.

This senior leadership role reports to the Head of Claims Shared Services and will build a team of two direct reports to support deliverables in London, UK, and North America (including Bermuda). The role partners closely with North America, Global Markets, and Reinsurance Claims leadership, Actuarial, the Data & Analytics team, and key stakeholders to define metrics, improve data quality, and support continuous improvement, strategic growth, and profitability. It also serves as the primary Claims interface with Actuarial leadership and the Data & Analytics team, and is the main Claims point of contact for Data Transformation initiatives impacting claims reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Enterprise Leadership and Strategy
    • Own and set the global Claims MI & Insights strategy, standards, and governance framework.
    • Establish clear enterprise accountability for claims performance reporting.
    • Define priorities and direct capacity to deliver critical business and regulatory outcomes.
    • Exercise independent judgement and challenge to influence senior leadership decisions.
  • Executive Influence and Decision Support
    • Own and shape the global claims performance narrative for senior leadership, ExCo, and Board(s).
    • Translate complex claims data into concise, decision-ready insights.
    • Provide forward-looking analysis, thematic trends, and clear escalation of risk or performance issues.
    • Represent Claims MI & Insights with authority in enterprise-level forums and discussions.
  • Governance, Risk, and Control
    • Ensure consistency, accuracy, and comparability of claims MI & Insights across regions and lines of business.
    • Set and enforce KPI definitions, controls, versioning, and data governance standards.
    • Oversee regulatory, market, and data-call reporting with strong risk and control discipline.
    • Establish clear ownership and escalation for data quality, integrity, and remediation.
  • Transformation and Innovation Leadership
    • Own Claims MI inputs to claims data transformation and enterprise data initiatives.
    • Partner with Data & Analytics to design, embed, and scale new reporting capabilities.
    • Drive modernization of claims MI & Insights through automation, standardization, and improved insight.
    • Ensure new solutions are operationally effective, sustainable, and user-centric.
  • Leadership and Talent Stewardship
    • Provide strategic leadership, direction, and oversight to senior regional performance leads.
    • Hold teams accountable for high-quality delivery and professional standards.
    • Elevate regional outputs into enterprise-level insight and thematic reporting.
    • Build capability, resilience, and succession within the Claims MI & Insights function.
  • Key Enterprise Reporting Responsibilities
    • Board, ExCo, and senior management claims and insights reporting.
    • Global claims performance MI & Insights (weekly, monthly, and quarterly).
    • Large loss, CAT, and event-driven reporting.
    • Regulatory returns, market reporting, and data-calls.
    • Operational, compliance, controls, and audit metrics.
    • Resource, capacity, and workforce insight.
    • Market, Lloyd’s, and AXIS-specific risk reporting.
  • Perform additional duties, responsibilities, and activities appropriate to the nature of this role as required.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in Specialty markets in North America and within a Lloyd’s / London Market Insurer.
  • Solid domain knowledge of claims and claims processes, procedures, and systems.
  • A good understanding of the Bureau processes, the role of Xchanging, Lloyd’s KPIs, and reporting standards, with the ability to navigate through London Market systems.
  • Deep experience with business analytics, reporting, and visualization tools including Power BI and other Microsoft tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Familiarity with collaboration tools including Microsoft SharePoint and Webex.
  • Exceptional analytical skills and adept at handling multiple complex data sets.
  • Demonstrable success in creating and delivering actionable management reports and insights.
  • Experience designing and delivering education material and training to system users.
  • Excellent communication skills and demonstrated ability to support strategic initiatives impacting key stakeholders and report to senior management.
  • Experience working on cross-functional teams, collaborating, actively participating, and delivering solutions.
  • Strong organizational, critical thinking, problem-solving, analytical, and quantitative skills, including the ability to analyze and interpret financial and claims data.
  • Proven prioritization skills with the ability to balance immediate needs with broader organizational strategies.
  • Ability to issue-spot and escalate challenges that could impact projects or the organization.
  • Willingness to assume additional responsibilities and undertake professional qualifications for personal and professional growth.
  • Good conflict resolution skills to effectively deal with differing expectations and viewpoints and build strong cross-functional relationships.
  • Ability to work in a hybrid environment, in the office 3 days per week.
  • Some travel may be associated with this role.

Locations

London, Dublin, NJ, NYC, and/or Toronto.

Pay

Base salary expected to be between £170,000–£200,000.
