About the role
Creating cartographic output (map making), data manipulation, data creation from digitization or field survey, basic data management, and basic map development. Interpret and enter field data into GIS related systems and databases.
Responsibilities
- Create, revise and maintain technical data used for reports, maps, and sketches.
- Create, revise and maintain material and property equipment records.
- Obtain information required to perform work from multiple resources including verbal/electronic communications, sketches, marked drawings, field notes, vendors' catalogs, and technical reference manuals.
- Operate large scale plotters and other duplicating equipment.
- Work with other organizations of the company to resolve discrepancies to assure that data reflects accurate field conditions.
- Generate reports defined to pull data from graphical and non-graphical databases.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in GIS, Computer Science, Geography, Civil Engineering, Drafting, or related field OR Associate's degree in GIS, Computer Science, Geography, Civil Engineering, Drafting, or related field OR High School diploma or equivalency.
- Work experience:
- Bachelor's or Associate's degree in GIS: 0 years related experience.
- Non-GIS Bachelor's or Associate's degree: 0 years related experience.
- High School diploma or equivalency: 3 years related GIS experience.
- Valid state driver's license.
- Familiar with conventional drafting symbols and drafting methods.
- Familiar with computer graphics and automated drawing methods and have the ability to distinguish colors.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and Access).
- Travel required outside of business hours.
Physical Demands
Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally (activity or condition exists up to 1/3 of the time) and/or a negligible amount of force frequently (activity or condition exists from 1/3 to 2/3 of the time) to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods.
Pay
Compensation Range: $22.14 - $27.67 per hour.
