GIS Technical Specialist

Responsibilities

• Setup, edit and maintain GIS datasets for Members including, but not limited to; layers, fields, domains, geometric networks, and associated attributes and assets.
• Perform quality assurance including; collecting and analyzing database updates and work orders to ensure "as-built" conversion process is successful.
• Aid with the scheduling, tracking, monitoring, and leading GIS projects to ensure start time and deadlines are met, keeping all stakeholders informed.
• Provide technical and analytical support to internal customers for our GIS software.
• Provide software enhancement recommendations for our GIS software.
• Commitment to NISC's Statement of Shared Values.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• 3+ years of related experience preferred.
• Moderate level knowledge of business-related software applications and services.
• Moderate level knowledge of: ArcPro, ArcGIS Desktop, ArcCatalog, ArcToolbox, ArcGIS Server, Python experience (the ability to customize existing scripts).
• Working knowledge of: ArcToolbox, ArcGIS Server, Python experience (the ability to customize existing scripts).
• Moderate level knowledge of the Utility and/or Telecom industries.
• Excellent level verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent telephone/email etiquette and an ability to deal effectively with Member/Customers.
• Excellent level ability to organize and prioritize.
• Strong research and problem-solving skills with a strong attention to detail.
• Excellent level ability to multi task and time manage.
• Leverage generative AI tools and technologies to enhance productivity, creativity, and problem-solving within the scope of the role.
• Excellent level ability to demonstrate initiative and accountability.
• Ability to travel as often as necessary to meet the goals and objectives of the position.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Geography, Geoscience, Cartography, GIS or equivalent experience.
