Responsibilities
- Ensures quality patient care by following department policies and guidelines.
- Prepares each suite prior to each case by following the daily schedule and procedure requirements.
- Ensures safe patient care by placing blood pressure cuff, sensor for pulse oximeter, nasal cannula, surgical cautery pad and cardiac electrodes appropriately.
- Affords assistance in the procedure rooms, including but not limited to: biopsies, polypectomy, dilation, charting vitals/patient status and the collection and labeling of specimens.
- Maintains and updates inventory according to established departmental levels by ordering and purchasing items as required.
- Participates in overall GI ASC functions including, but not limited to, scheduling of procedures, training of new staff, maintaining appropriate statistics, assisting with Quality Assurance projects, education to improve self and others, and attending staff meetings and annual in-service education as required.
- Complies with universal precautions and the use of personal protective equipment.
- Understands the safety precautions associated with the use of OPA and other chemicals in the healthcare environment.
Qualifications
- SGNA GI tech certification within one year of employment.
- Basic Life Support (CPR) certification (within 90 days of hire).
- High school graduate or GED.
- Previous experience in ambulatory care setting or endoscopy lab.
- CMA or NAC.
