About the role
The GI Technician/Endoscopy operates under the direct supervision of a surgeon to assist with the operation of technical equipment used during both simple and complex endoscopic procedures. The physician, registered nurse, and GI technician collaborate in the procedure room to create ideal conditions for achieving positive patient outcomes. The GI technician is also responsible for cleaning, disinfecting, and maintaining endoscopes and other instruments. Additional duties of the GI technician include managing patient flow, preparing the room for procedures, stocking supplies, ordering materials, and handling various clerical tasks.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the operation of technical equipment used during both simple and complex endoscopic procedures.
- Create ideal conditions for achieving positive patient outcomes through collaboration with the physician, registered nurse, and other team members.
- Clean, disinfect, and maintain endoscopes and other instruments.
- Manage patient flow, prepare the room for procedures, stock supplies, order materials, and handle various clerical tasks.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a GI Lab
- Previous experience in an ambulatory surgical center or surgical hospital preferred
- Current BLS required, ACLS preferred
