About the role
Maintains unit supply and equipment inventories, reports malfunctioning equipment to the endoscopy coordinator or nurse manager. Assists in the terminal cleaning and re-sterilization of endoscopes, equipment, and procedure rooms, and manages endoscope reprocessing records. Reviews and recommends changes to nursing policies and procedures in the endoscopy unit, and participates in the development of unit goals and performance improvement. Communicates concerns to appropriate personnel and notifies the endoscopy coordinator or nurse manager of potential ethical or legal issues. Accepts call to ensure the unit is covered 24/7 and responds to code situations within the department. Cares properly for and handles specimens according to hospital and lab policy. Provides safe and effective nursing care using knowledge and skills. Demonstrates clinical competency in assisting physicians during endoscopic procedures and providing direct patient care. Implements physician orders for medications, treatments, and diagnostic measures, including monitoring patients during procedures with moderate sedation. Maintains thorough and complete electronic documentation of each patient’s procedure in the electronic medical record. Floats to other surgical service units as patient or census needs require.

Requirements
- Associate's of Nursing [Required]
- Bachelor's of Nursing [Preferred]
- 1+ nursing experience in an acute care setting [Required]
- 2+ nursing specialty experience [Required]
