About the role

UNICEF Generation Unlimited (GenU) is a public-private-youth partnership (PPYP) launched in 2018, dedicated to ensuring that every young person gains skills and livelihoods. It supports country-level initiatives and drives global solutions to improve skills development and youth employability for livelihood opportunities with a focus on equity and innovation where girls and young women is one of the key strategic priorities.

Girls’ Education and Skills Partnership (GESP) aims to provide quality market-relevant skills to 1 million young women, promoting equality of choice and access to opportunities in learning, skilling, and livelihoods. Adopting a girl-centered approach, GESP addresses the skills deficit among young women through several pathways including enhancing the quality and relevance of curriculum and enhance teachers and trainer capacity, offering access to high-quality, market-relevant skills training, strengthening pathways to learning and earning, and collaborating with communities and institutions to foster an inclusive and supportive environment for young women.

Under the direct supervision of Programme Specialist (GESP coordinator), in close collaboration with Senior Advisor for Global Programmes, Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist, and the GenU global team, Country Offices and GESP implementing partners, the GESP Evidence and Learning Consultant will lead the analysis, synthesis and dissemination of evidence and learning outputs from the GESP Programme. The consultant will finalize the cross-country GESP Tracer Study Report building on the country tracer data from Bangladesh and Nigeria, develop a series of learning briefs, and organize dissemination events such as webinar on gender-responsive skills and livelihoods and wider youth livelihoods approaches, thereby translating programme evidence into actionable findings and recommendations for programme improvement, knowledge sharing, and strategic decision-making.

Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in social science, education, international relations, political science, communications, international development, business administration or other relevant disciplines is required.
• An advanced university degree (Master’s or higher) is considered an asset.
• Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible experience in analysis of data and development of technical reports as well as learning briefs from programme implementation.
• Experience in youth livelihoods, youth employment, skills-to-work transitions, or related fields is desirable.
• Fluency in English is required.
• Knowledge of another official UN language or a local language is an asset.

Skills

• Minimum of five (5) years of progressively professional experience at the national and international levels in programme management, international development, or knowledge management.
• Experience in analysis of data and development of technical reports.
• Experience undertaking reporting to support programme and donor acquittal.
• Experience working in youth livelihoods, gender, or Monitoring, Evaluation, Research, and Learning (MERL) is highly desired.
• Strong data analysis, IT skills, and fluency with Microsoft Office Suite is highly desired.
• Prior experience in the field will be considered a strong asset.
• Strong understanding of the social, financial and policy barriers adolescent girls and young women face in moving from learning to earning, particularly in low- and middle-income country contexts.
• Demonstrated ability to work across diverse teams and stakeholders, including global teams, country teams, implementing partners, private sector actors and youth-serving organizations.
