Position starts ASAP through 8/14/26. This is a 0.667 FTE, one-year contract role split between Timpanogos High School (2 classes) and Orem Junior High School (2 classes) on opposite days.
Qualifications
- State certification as a foreign language teacher in German.
- German language endorsement.
- Proficiency in the German language.
Responsibilities
- Develop and administer a foreign language education curriculum aligned with district goals.
- Create a safe, inclusive classroom environment conducive to learning.
- Design lesson plans and instructional materials that challenge students and optimize instructional time.
- Teach German language skills, including comprehension, grammar, syntax, composition, vocabulary, and literature.
- Foster student understanding and appreciation of German-speaking cultures.
- Prepare students and materials for literary publications, contests, and related activities.
- Assess student learning and progress, adapting instruction for individual and small-group needs, including students with special needs.
- Maintain accurate records of student achievement, attendance, and activities as required by district policies.
- Encourage parental involvement and maintain effective communication with students and parents.
- Uphold school conduct standards and establish a positive learning atmosphere.
- Coordinate with staff, participate in faculty meetings, and contribute to committees.
- Select, requisition, and maintain inventory of instructional materials and supplies.
- Stay current with professional development through seminars, workshops, or research.
Skills
- Knowledge of modern teaching methods, differentiated instruction, and educational pedagogy.
- Expertise in German grammar, literature, and cultural nuances.
- Familiarity with data systems, analysis, and action planning.
- Understanding of applicable federal and state education laws.
- Proficiency with computer networks and software applications.
