About the role

The Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine at UNLV, Internal Medicine Department, is searching for an Assistant/Associate/Professor in the specialty of Geriatrics. This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing academic Geriatrics practice. The successful candidate will have a passion for the teaching of internal medicine residents and Geriatrics Fellows in both the inpatient medical service and ambulatory setting. The position will engage in didactic teaching, research, and maintain a practice of Geriatric Medicine, delivering and striving for excellence in patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Engage in didactic teaching of internal medicine residents and Geriatrics Fellows in both the inpatient medical service and ambulatory setting.
  • Participate in research activities relevant to Geriatrics.
  • Maintain a practice of Geriatric Medicine, delivering and striving for excellence in patient care.

Requirements

  • A M.D. or D.O. from an accredited college or university as recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).
  • Completed an ACGME-approved Internal Medicine Residency Program.
  • Completed an ACGME-approved Geriatric Medicine Fellowship Program.
  • Board certified in Internal Medicine.
  • Board certified or board eligible within two (2) years of graduation from an ACGME-approved Geriatrics Fellowship Program.
  • Eligible for an unrestricted Nevada medical license, Nevada pharmacy and DEA licenses, and malpractice insurance.
  • Ability to obtain privileges at affiliated hospitals and other site locations as needed.

Qualifications

  • Education: M.D. or D.O. from an accredited college or university as recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).
  • Experience: Completed an ACGME-approved Internal Medicine Residency Program, completed an ACGME-approved Geriatric Medicine Fellowship Program, board certified in Internal Medicine, and board certified or board eligible within two (2) years of graduation from an ACGME-approved Geriatrics Fellowship Program.
  • License: Eligible for an unrestricted Nevada medical license, Nevada pharmacy and DEA licenses, and malpractice insurance.
  • Research: Demonstrated research and scholarly activity will be considered in determining the candidate’s recommended rank.

Skills

  • Strong teaching abilities, particularly in the context of geriatric medicine.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage a clinical practice and conduct research simultaneously.
