About the Role
The Maryland Department of Health, Deer's Head Center, is seeking a Geriatric Nursing Assistant II to join our team. This is a full-time position with a salary range of $49,214.00 - $63,669.00/year, with potential growth to $77,620.00/year. The work location is in Wicomico County.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care to geriatric residents in a long-term care setting
- Assist residents with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
- Take and record vital signs, weights, and intake/output measurements
- Observe and report changes in residents' physical and mental conditions to nursing staff
- Assist with mobility, transfers, and positioning of residents
- Serve meals and assist residents with feeding as needed
- Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for residents
- Document care provided and complete required forms and records
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, and interdisciplinary team members
- Follow established care plans and facility policies and procedures
Requirements
- Current certification as a Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) in the State of Maryland
- Active status on the Maryland Board of Nursing Certified Nursing Assistant registry
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Ability to read, write, and speak English clearly
- Physical ability to perform patient care tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods
- Basic computer skills for electronic documentation
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a CNA/GNA in a skilled nursing or long-term care facility preferred
- Demonstrated compassion, patience, and professionalism when working with elderly populations
- Strong observational and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a healthcare team
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays as assigned

Pay
$49,214.00 - $63,669.00/year, with potential growth to $77,620.00/year through the state pay scale.
Schedule
Full-time employment. Specific shift assignments will be discussed during the interview process; all shifts may include weekend and holiday rotations.
