Position Summary
The chosen candidate will perform construction inspections/testing for building construction projects, observe contractor's conformance to the plans and specifications, and conduct field reporting.
Essential Job Functions
- Geotechnical inspections and testing during construction, including soil density testing using a nuclear density gauge, earthwork, assessing unsuitable soil conditions, foundations, subgrade review, concrete testing, rebar inspections, pre-slab inspections, masonry inspections, structural steel bolted and welded connection inspections, cold-formed steel inspections, and road construction inspection and testing.
- Preparation of field reports.
- Geotechnical laboratory testing (concrete and soil), ACI certification for concrete testing, or ability to obtain soon after employment.
- Proficient in preparing field reports.
- Nuclear Gauge Safety Training Certification, or ability to obtain soon after employment.
- Must have valid and current driver's license.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum education of a High School diploma or GED
- 2 or more years of relevant experience in geotechnical inspections and testing during construction, including soil density testing using a nuclear density gauge, earthwork, undercutting of unsuitable soils, foundations, subgrade review, concrete testing, rebar inspections, pre-slab inspections, masonry inspections, structural steel bolted and welded connection inspections, cold-formed steel inspections, and road construction inspection and testing.
- Geotechnical laboratory testing (soil and concrete), ACI certification for concrete testing, or ability to obtain soon after employment.
- Proficient in preparing field reports.
- Nuclear Gauge Safety Training Certification, or ability to obtain soon after employment.
- Must have valid and current driver's license.
Physical Requirements
- Regularly required to talk or hear.
- Frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
- Occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Able to lift and move objects up to 40 pounds.
Work Environment / Environmental Factors
- Work will be performed on construction job sites and travel between office and jobsite will be required on a daily basis.
- Valid drivers license is required.
- Work is primarily outdoors, and exposure to weather during all annual seasons will occur.
