Essential Roles And Responsibilities
- Follow Terracon safety rules, guidelines and standards for all projects.
- Be a leader in safety.
- Prepare proposals (scopes and cost estimates) for projects of varying size and complexity under the supervision of a licensed professional engineer (Authorized Project Reviewer).
- Services may be provided for existing or proposed projects in the public works, transportation, commercial, communications, energy, and/or industrial sectors.
- Participate in pre-task planning meetings with the drill crew(s) for each field exploration.
- Join the driller/drill crew to assist with the completion of field explorations as necessary.
- Field explorations may consist of soil borings, cone soundings, and/or instrumentation installation.
- Review field logs and field cone sounding data.
- Assign laboratory testing on each soil sample.
- Evaluate laboratory and/or field data to prepare typed logs for incorporation into deliverables.
- Perform geotechnical engineering calculations and evaluations.
- Apply sound engineering principles to prepare geotechnical reports/letters/addendums containing written geotechnical recommendations.
- Communicate complex engineering issues and concepts to technical and non-technical clients and project teams.
- Review plans and specifications prepared by the design team against prepared deliverables to confirm recommendations were implemented correctly.
- Observe shallow foundation or deep foundation installation on construction phase projects.
- Monitor various types of instrumentation (piezometers, settlement monuments, inclinometers, vibration monitors, etc.) installed to support construction and prepare periodic letters/reports.
- Research, observe, and resolve design and construction problems.
- Attend and actively participate in local professional organizations, such as NSPE, ACEC, ASCE, etc.
- Develop new relationships and maintain existing relationships with clients.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering.
- Experience: 0-5 years.
- Desired Licensure: Engineer-in-Training (EIT) / Engineering Intern (EI) or Professional Engineer (PE).
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history.
- Out-of-town travel may be necessary.
