Geotechnical Staff Engineer

About the role

Intertek, a leading provider of quality and safety solutions, seeks a Geotechnical Staff Engineer to join their Professional Services Industries, Inc. (Intertek-PSI) team in Harlingen, Texas. This role supports the Rio Grande Valley and Corpus Christi regions.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review engineering reports, project plans, and specifications
• Prepare scopes, budgets, and schedules for assignments
• Review recommendations with principal consultants
• Maintain and leverage client relationships and develop new project opportunities
• Attend client site meetings and communicate effectively with clients and project teams
• Work in the field or laboratory, perform on-site observations, sample collection, and specific tests

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree (BS) from an ABET accredited college or university in geotechnical, civil, or related engineering discipline
• Past F.E. exam or scheduled to take within 6 months
• Valid driver’s license and reliable driving record
• Effective communication skills (written, verbal, and listening)
• Solid interpersonal skills
• The ability to read and understand work plans
• Able to work off-shift and overtime as needed
• May travel up to 15% of time

Preferred Requirements

• Master’s degree (MS) from an ABET accredited college or university in geotechnical, civil, or related engineering discipline
• PE License

Qualifications

• The ability to maintain and leverage client relationships
• Effective communication skills
• Ability to work independently using standard techniques, procedures, and criteria

Skills

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
