Geotechnical Staff Engineer
Job Responsibilities
- Execute geotechnical project assignments including engineering analysis, report preparation, field exploration, and laboratory services under the guidance of senior engineers and project managers.
- Aid in the preparation of geotechnical reports, proposals, and technical documentation.
- Prepare project field packets prior to initiating field activities.
- Perform field and laboratory sampling and testing.
- Support geotechnical projects during design and construction by conducting observations, testing, documentation, and communication of project progress.
- Track progress on assigned tasks and provide timely updates to Project Managers.
- Follow department policies and procedures while supporting team goals and objectives.
- Ensure testing is performed in accordance with applicable standards and client requirements.
- Analyze and review field and laboratory data to ensure accuracy and compliance with company quality standards.
- Assist with geotechnical evaluations and engineering analyses under the direction of senior staff.
- Prepare geotechnical reports and supporting documentation.
- Maintain a strong commitment to safety and adherence to company safety policies.
- Review work for compliance with department QA/QC procedures.
- Develop an understanding of geotechnical engineering practices, field operations, reporting, and project execution as part of a structured career development path.
- Perform dynamic load testing and non-destructive testing of deep foundations using PDA (Pile Driving Analyzer), EDC (Embedded Data Collectors), CSL (Crosshole Sonic Logging), TIP (Thermal Integrity Profiling), and other applicable testing methods to verify foundation performance and integrity.
- Perform field inspections and monitoring of deep foundation elements including driven piles, drilled shafts, and auger cast piles on FDOT and non-FDOT projects.
- Utilize field test data to evaluate foundation capacity, integrity, geometry, and subsurface conditions.
- Absorb and interpret results, conduct engineering analyses, and prepare technical reports under the guidance of senior engineers and project managers.
Requirements
- B.S. degree in Civil Engineering required.
- Successfully passed the E.I.T. exam.
- 0 to 2 years of engineering experience. (Entry Level)
- Internship, co-op, research, or field experience is a plus but not required.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated problem-solving ability and willingness to learn.
- Comfortable working both in an office environment and on active construction sites.
- Ability to commute to the Tampa office and travel to various project sites as needed.
- Strong personal safety awareness.
- Desire to learn at a fast pace and grow a career in geotechnical engineering.
