Geotechnical Intern - Water (Fall 2026)

About the role

Our Lexington, KY office has an opportunity for an intern student. As an Intern, you will work in a team environment and have exposure to a variety of projects. This is a terrific opportunity for a college student to support a number of exciting local and national projects.

Responsibilities

• Assisting in project administration including writing reports, gathering information, drafting proposals, drafting correspondence, tracking project costs, and completing progress reports
• Assisting technical staff with various project tasks, including researching, compiling and evaluating project data, preparing reports and performing calculations for design projects
• Performing construction observations, assisting with geotechnical field work, or assisting in a geotechnical lab, as needed
• Completing other engineering/administrative duties as required

Requirements

• In progress toward earning a bachelor's degree (minimum) in civil, chemical, mechanical, or environmental engineering or related field
• Specific coursework or exposure to one or more of the following: planning, design, construction of infrastructure, fluid mechanics, statistics, geotechnical engineering, and construction management
• Excellent communication and organizational skills, and legible handwriting
• A safety-oriented mindset

Work Environment

Typical office environment working with computers and working at a desk for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

Pay

In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Actual compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. Part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
