Responsibilities
- Performing geotechnical explorations, site characterizations, and risk evaluations on developments.
- Training and supervision of lab technicians (based on experience).
- Maintenance of quality reviews and certifications, management of equipment inventory and calibration.
- Client marketing and proposal preparation.
- Providing direction on a project-to-project basis – i.e., preparing lab testing assignments, reviewing documents, and testing results for content and accuracy.
- Preparing geotechnical engineering reports.
- Reviewing soils laboratory test results.
- Aiding in planning and the execution of subsurface investigation programs – including understanding of project design plans, locating test borings at project sites, coordinating underground utility clearance.
- Monitoring and enforcing quality control standards and specifications.
Requirements
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to read design drawings.
- Ability to meet schedules.
- Experience with common geotechnical software or ability to utilize software with minimal training.
- Self-motivated, reliable, quality-minded, and detail-oriented.
Qualifications
- 0-4+ years of experience in consulting engineering on various civil projects.
- New grads are encouraged to apply!
- EIT credentialing is a strong plus, but the ability to get EIT and PE is required (must have ABET accredited degree).
- Education: BS Degree in Civil Engineering, Master’s Degree in Geotechnical Engineering or Engineering Geology is a plus, but not required.

Schedule
This role will be based out of our Shelbyville (east Louisville) office.
This role will be at least 30-40% in the field, so some overnight travel (a couple of nights a month) is very normal/to be expected. A company vehicle can be provided or reimbursement for personal vehicle use.
